Peseiro creates new Nigerian record in Super Eagles demolition of Principalities

The Super Eagles of Nigeria put 10 past the Principalities of Sao Tome and Principe on Monday to go top of Group A

The Nigerians went out blazing in the hot Agadir sunshine as they went for the kill as early as the 9th minute when Victor Osimhen converted from a sumptuous Moses Simon cross.

He turned provider in the 28th minute when he passed to Simon to bundle home into the net.

Nigeria pressed and pushed further for more, with Osimhen grabbing four in the game while Moffi scored twice. Dennis, Etebo and Lookman completed the rout as Jose Peseiro led Nigeria to their biggest ever scoreline in history at 10-0.

The Super Eagles’ biggest scoreline before now was a 10-1 win against the Squirrels of Benin Republic in 1959 at the Kwame Nkrumah Cup. Benin was still known as Dahomey at the time and the Super Eagles were known as the Red Devils then.

Nigeria had been drawn against Benin Republic, Togo, Cameroon and Fernando Po in the preliminary rounds of the Kwame Nkrumah Cup 63 years ago.
