Nigerian midfield whiz-kid crowned best young player in Denmark

The FC Ebedei prodigy had a tremendous year in Denmark, and he has been recognized for his efforts

Nigerian midfielder Raphael Onyedika has been crowned the best young player in the Danish Superligaen.

Onyedika had an amazing breakthrough season at Midtjylland. The former Danish champions lost their star man Frank Onyeka to Brentford last summer, and they brought in Onyedika to fill his big shoes.

The 21-year-old ensured that his compatriot was not missed at all, as he churned out brilliant performances consistently for the Wolves in the defensive midfield position.

Onyedika made 22 appearances, notching two goals and an assist. His solid and combative nature in the middle of the park was important in his side’s Landspokal triumph and second-place Superligaen finish.

In a tweet by Midtjylland, the three-time Danish Champions congratulated Onyedika on winning the award for the best young player in the Superligaen.

Onyedika beat players like FC Copenhagen’s Ísak Bergmann Jóhannesson, his teammate Gustav Isaksen, and Brondby’s Anis Slimane to clinch the award.

The FC Ebedei product has seen steady growth in his career since he moved to Europe three years ago. And at the rate he is going, he is primed for greatness.
