Moldovan Champions League campaigners sign Super Eagles hopeful

Sheriff Tiraspol have announced the signing of former Nigerian U-23 international

Iyayi Atiemwen has teamed up with the 30-time Moldovan League champions.

The player joined the Moldovan side from Croatian giants Dinamo Zagreb.

Sheriff Tiraspol became the surprise package of European football last season when they defeated Real Madrid 2-0 at the Bernabeu and made it to the Europa League.

The club announced the Nigerian winger’s signing via their official website and on Twitter on Wednesday.

“Nigerian striker Iyayi Atimven became another newcomer to our team. The player passed a medical examination and signed an agreement with the club, becoming a full-fledged part of the friendly family of FC Sheriff,” the club said in a tweet.

Atiemwen will be a part of the team as they play in the third round of the UEFA Champions League playoffs.

He appeared 58 times for the Croatians and scored 12 times while also contributing 6 assists.

He has previously featured for NK Gorica, Caykur Rizespor, NK Lokomotiva Zagreb, Omonia Nicosia and Manisaspor.
