Alex Iwobi has had a beautiful ending to his season, first playing a great role in Everton’s relegation safety and now helping Nigeria to win their two 2023 AFCON qualification games against Sierra Leone and Sao Tome
The former Arsenal midfielder had a long year as he had to battle a bad form and various coaching decisions to get back to his normal level.
Iwobi, just six months ago was nothing near favoured at Everton as he struggled to convince the coaches and for game time. With the Super Eagles, he had also lost his place in the team ahead of the AFCON and picked up a red card against Tunisia as the Super Eagles got eliminated in the round of 16.
He as a result of the AFCON suspension missed the games against the Black Stars and played no part as Nigeria missed out on the World Cup for the first time in four editions.
The season has however ended on a high for Iwobi as he revealed that his next plan is to rest and prepare the incoming season.
