The Nantes winger wrote: “Woke up to the news of my nomination for CAF Player Of The Year Award (MEN). This is not for me but for my coaches, teammates, family and friends. To God be the glory,”
Simon is the only Nigerian on the list from a crop of 30 African footballers.
The nominations which is a reflection of the 2022 AFCON is a reward for the forward who was inarguably Nigeria’s finest performer at the tournament despite the shocking exit suffered by the Super Eagles in the round of 16.
The award will hold on the 21st of July and will see the list pruned further before the said date.
