Dessers reveals how he felt about being overlooked by Nigeria in the past

Super Eagles forward was left out of the national team for two years despite performing reasonably well in his club

KRC Genk attacker, Cyriel Dessers has said he feels good to play for the Super Eagles and added that he has no regrets representing Nigeria.

Dessers, born in Belgium to a Nigerian mother and a Belgian father chose to represent the Nigerian national team in 2020 but wasn’t called up for two years under Gernot Rohr who gave him his debut and Austin Eguavoen.

After showing a rich vein of form in Europe and helping Feyenoord qualify for the Europa League next season, the Super Eagles handlers could not snub the forward again.

“I got goose bumps after I scored that goal,” he said on his goal against Mexico. It was his full debut and he turned up for the Nigerians.

“I hope to score more goals and do everything for the team.

“I have no regrets I chose to play for Nigeria even though I was overlooked after my debut two years ago.

“I will keep fighting and continue to score goals to be called up.”

Dessers could have added to his international tally against Ecuador but was culpable for missing scoring opportunities in the game.
