The regular 2021/22 Championship season has been concluded with a few outstanding performers identified
Nigeria-eligible duo of Philip Billing and Dominic Solanke have been included in the 2021/2022 EFL Championship Team of the Season following their brilliant performances for Bournemouth.
Billing and Solanke played crucial roles as Bournemouth finished second on the league table, securing automatic promotion to the English Premier League.
Showing remarkable consistency and quality, Billing was one of only a couple of players who recorded double-digit goals (10) and assists (10) from 40 appearances.
Teammate Solanke went a step further by starting each of the 46 league games Bournemouth played in the second division this term, smashing in an astonishing 29 goals and adding an impressive seven assists.
The former Chelsea striker also finished second for shots (164), and clear-cut chances scored (21) to round off the celebrated XI with a WhoScored.com rating of 7.15.
Solanke partnered with Fulham’s Mitrovic in attack in the Team of the Season.
Billing and Solanke’s excellent performances were previously rewarded, with both players named in the Football Manager Sky Bet Championship Team of the Season announced last month.
Billing has two caps for the Denmark national team while Solanke has a cap for England’s Three Lions, but both remain eligible to feature for the Super Eagles.
