Ever-present in the Rangers team through to the Europa League finals, the 22-year old defender made the cut for the team of the season
Calvin Bassey was has been selected as one of the best players in the Europa League this season.
The Rangers defender was listed in the team of the year with his Super Eagles and Rangers teammate Joe Aribo snubbed in the selection.
The players were selected by the UEFA Technical Observer Panel and had some of the best performers in the competition this season.
Bassey was named in a back 3 with Frankfurt’s Martin Hinteregger and West Ham’s Craig Dawson.
The midfield had Frankfurt’s Filip Kostic, West Ham’s Declan Rice, RB Leipzig’s Konrad Laimer and Rangers captain James Tavernier.
The attack positions had Christopher Nkunku of Leipzig, Rafael Borre and Ryan Kent, both of Frankfurt and Rangers respectively.
Bassey had a performance to remember in the final of the Europa League and was given rave reviews as he made headlines. His performance was excellent in the game and was by far the best Rangers player on the night.
Aribo, who was a surprising absence from the team scored his only Europa League goal in the final in his 15 appearances in the competition this season.
