The Super Eagles goalkeeper produced another solid performance to help his team hold some hope into the final matchday of the season
Maduka Okoye produced a solid showing for Sparta Rotterdam as they defeated PEC Zwolle 2-0 in a week 33 Eredivisie fixture and their final home game of the season.
It was the second straight win for Maurice Steijn’s men as they took their battle against relegation to the wire.
Okoye made three saves in the game and had one high claim. It was his 6th clean sheet of the season in 28 games.
Sparta Rotterdam is expected to play a cup final-esque final game of the season against Heracles who sit above them in 14th with two points.
Fortuna Sittard lie in the 16th position, just a place below Sparta Rotterdam and with a negative goal difference of 12 worse than Okoye’s team.
Fortuna, formerly managed by Sunday Oliseh face NEC Nijmegen in the final game of the season, a game considered more difficult than Sparta Rotterdam’s.
The Rotterdammers may play in the Eredivisie next season depending on the outcome of their final game of the season.
Should Sparta retain their place in the Dutch top flight, it’s left to be seen if Okoye will negotiate another year on loan at the club or move to already-relegated Watford in the Championship ahead of next season.
