Super Eagles of Nigeria will face Mexico, Ecuador in friendly games at the end of this month and beginning of next month
Maduka Okoye has been ruled out of the Super Eagles’ upcoming games against Mexico, Ecuador in the United States and the 2023 AFCON qualifiers.
According to media reports in Nigeria, the Watford goalkeeper has pulled out due to a shoulder injury.
Respected Nigerian sports journalist, Sulaiman Folarin said the player pulled out due to a shoulder injury as he has been playing with the injury since the 8th of April.
Okoye was vital to Sparta Rotterdam’s safety in the Eredivisie this season as he performed brilliantly in a tense end to the campaign.
Folarin tweeted that doctors agreed that Okoye has to undergo rehabilitation in order to be ready for next season.
The former Fortuna Düsseldorf goalkeeper was also ruled out of Nigeria’s two-legged World Cup qualifier against Ghana in March. He was reported to have contracted COVID-19 at the time.
