Remo Stars defeated Shooting Stars on Sunday to win the NPFL/La Liga U-15 Promises tournament
The young Sky Blues defeated Shooting Stars U-15 2-0 in Ikenne in the final of the NPFL/La Liga Promises competition.
A brace from tournament’s top scorer Arierhi Kparobo proved enough for the Ikenne-based team to defeat Shooting Stars and bring an end to an exciting display of football artistry from young players. Kparobo scored five goals in the competition.
Katsina United had defeated Kano Pillars 5-4 on penalties in the third place match played earlier in the day at the Remo Stars Stadium, venue of the competition. Abubakar Anas in the Katsina goal was also brilliant as he saved a penalty and won the goalkeeper of the tournament award.
Remo Stars’ Ohamesi Chimezie won the Most Valuable Player of the tournament award.
The competition saw teams from the NPFL gather present their youngsters in front of scouts for two weeks.
Spectacular young footballers emerged from the tournament including Shooting Stars’ Samuel Ajayi, Plateau United’s Chris Yusuf, and a host of others.
Some of the teams that participated in the tournament were; Remo Stars, Shooting Stars, MFM, Enyimba, Lobi Stars, Katsina Utd, Kano Pillars, Plateau Utd, Kwara Utd, Gombe Utd and others.
The competition was organised by the League Management Company, who was partnered by Nigerian telecommunication giants, MTN.
