Soccernet.ng highlights the exploits of a few Nigerian footballers who made their way to their respective clubs’ scoresheet within the last 24 hours.
In the Netherlands, Cyriel Kolawole Dessers scored Feyenoord’s consolation goal in their disappointing 2-1 defeat at home to FC Twente in the Eredivisie season finale on Sunday.
Dessers finished the league campaign with nine goals, but he will have the chance to add to his ten Europa Conference League goals when Feyenoord face AS Roma in the final in ten days.
In the Italian Serie A, Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen opened the scoring as Napoli thrashed struggling Genoa 3-0 at the Diego Maradona Stadium.
The three points seal a third-place finish and a UEFA Champions League spot for Il Partenopei. Osimhen has 14 goals in 26 games for the Neapolitans, better than the former career-high 13 he netted in his only year at Lille.
In Egypt, John Okoye Ebuka netted a brace to inspire ENPPI to a fine 2-2 draw at Al Mokawloon in a Premier League matchday 19 fixture.
The 25-year-old attacking midfielder now boasts nine goals in 18 games, far more impressive than the ten goals he managed in 33 appearances for the same side last season.
Player of the Season contender Anthony Nwakaeme scored the match-winning penalty that propelled Trabzonspor to a thrilling 2-1 victory at home to Altay in a Super Lig’s matchday 37 encounter.
The strike is the 12th league goal for the mercurial 33-year-old, more than he has ever managed since joining the Black Sea Storm in 2018.
Trabzonspor are already champions of the Turkish top-flight division.
Lagos-born forward Abiola Adedeji Dauda was the hero for Apollon Smirnis, scoring the 90th-minute equaliser that earned the visitors a 2-2 draw at Asteras Tripoli in the Greek Super League 1.
Smirnis, however, remain rooted to the bottom of the relegation playoff group and are favourites for the drop despite 34-year-old Dauda’s four goals in 24 games.
