Flying Eagles saw off their Ghanaian counterparts in the WAFU Zone B cup tournament on Sunday
Nigeria defeated Ghana 2-0 at the WAFU B U-20 tournament in Niger Republic.
Goals by Aminu Muhammad and substitute Ahmed Abdullahi proved enough for the Flying Eagles.
Muhammad latched on to a pass deep from the Nigerian defence before rounding past the keeper. He scored from a very tight position to leave the Flying Eagles with an early 5th minute lead.
Both sides took the game on with the Nigerians impressing in the defense.
The Ladan Bosso-led team took the lead into the half time break and continued from where they stopped in the second half, knocking on the Black Meteors’ door relentlessly.
Nigeria scored in the 78th minute to sit in a more comfortable position in the game and lead the group.
They will play Burkina Faso next with the group leaders expected to qualify for the African U-20 Championships.
Nigeria, also tinkered by Bosso missed out on the last competition having failed to pick the slot in the WAFU tournament.
