After scoring for Feyenoord and putting paid to PSV Eindhoven’s title aspirations, the Nigerian forward hit a landmark
Cyriel Dessers has now scored scored 100 official career goals after his impressive display against PSV on Sunday.
Dessers scored in the 2-2 stalemate to end PSV’s push for the title and continue his good form at De Kuip.
It was his 18th goal of the season in all competitions and a significant achievement for him, considering how he started the season.
Dessers remarked that the goal is special and De Kuip is a special ground to get his century of goals.
“No better place to score your 100th official goal than in an exploding cockpit,” he tweeted.
Dessers has grown to become a fans’ favourite at Feyenoord and is subject to a €4m transfer merry-go-round between parent club KRC Genk and Feyenoord.
While he’s considered surplus to the Belgian club’s requirements, he’s wanted by the fans of the Rotterdammers who went as far as setting up a crowdfunding route to secure his permanent acquisition.
Ten of Dessers’ 100 goals have come in the Europa Conference League where he’s one goal better than AS Roma’s Tammy Abraham.
