The Belgian Pro League side identified with some of the former players who claimed winners’ medals after a glorious ending to their French Cup adventure
Belgium’s KAA Gent have sent congratulatory messages to Nigeria international Moses Simon after the winger helped Nantes secure their fourth Coupe de France title on Saturday night.
Simon featured from start to finish as Ludovic Blas’ second-half penalty handed the Yellow Canary a 1-0 victory in the cup final played at the Stade de France.
Nantes last lifted the French Cup in the year 2000 and have had to wait 22 years to lay their hands on the prestigious trophy once again.
The Coupe de France is the fifth team honour Simon will triumph in after previous successes in Slovakia and Belgium.
The 26-year-old won the league and cup double for AS Trencin before adding the Belgian Jupiler League and the Super Cup at KAA Gent.
And Gent took to their official Twitter account to applaud the Super Eagles attacker on his latest triumph.
The former Belgian league champions wrote: “Congratulations @Simon27Moses and Kalifa Coulibaly on winning the Coupe de France tonight! 🏆 See you in the @europaleague next year!”
Simon, only a couple of days ago, was named Nantes’ player of the month of April after scoring three goals and adding an assist in four matches.
The former Levante forward has six goals and eight assists for Nantes in the French Ligue 1.
