When will the Super Eagles play the 2023 AFCON qualifying games?

The run up of fixtures for Nigeria’s qualifying games for the 2023 AFCON has been released 

Nigeria have drawn Sierra Leone, Guinea Bissau and São Tomé and Principe/Mauritius and will begin hostilities against their opponents between the end of May and June.

Matchday 1 and 2 of the qualifiers will be held between the 30th of May and the 14th of June. Nigeria will host Sierra Leone on Matchday one before travelling to Mauritius or São Tomé on Matchday two.

Recall that the Super Eagles have friendly games against Mexico, slated for the 28th of May and Ecuador, for the 2nd of June.

Matchday 3 and 4 will come up between the 19th and 27th of September with the Super Eagles to face Guinea-Bissau home and away.

Matchday 5 and 6 will see Nigeria travel to Freetown before hosting São Tomé and Principe  or Mauritius on the last day. This match window has been set for March 20th-28th , 2023,

The top two teams from the group will be in Cote D’Ivoire for the tournament proper as the AFCON returns back to odd years.

The NFF is yet to release the team’s schedules and games calendar as it battles the appointment of a new foreign coach for the Super Eagles.
