Former Super Eagles star Finidi George is celebrating his 51st birthday on Friday
Spanish La Liga campaigners, Real Betis remembered Finidi on his 51st birthday and described him as a special player.
Finidi spent four years with the Los Verdiblancos between 1996 and 2000 and became a cult hero at the club during his time.
The Andalusian outfit wished the recently appointed Super Eagles assistant coach a happy birthday via their official Twitter account on Friday.
“What a player… Have a great birthday, Finidi!” Real Betis tweeted.
Finidi stood out as one of the best foreign players to grace the La Liga in the late 90s and is regarded as one of the best foreign players to have ever worn the greens of the Andalusian club.
The current Enyimba coach known as ‘Finito’ by locals in Nigeria is one of the best all-time players of the Super Eagles and is a part of the team dubbed as the golden generation of Nigerian football.
He worked with the Betis technical crew in 2018 before joining Enyimba last year as the Chief Coach.
Finidi became one of the few Nigerian players to have ever won the UEFA Champions League in 1996 when he won it with Ajax Amsterdam in the 1994/95 season.
Ajax Amsterdam also wished the winger a happy birthday and shared a footage of Finidi’s best three goals for the club.
