VIDEO: Coady congratulates Ikeme on return to football

The former Super Eagles star retired from football over four years ago after a fight against cancer, but he put on his goalkeeping gloves after the long hiatus

Wolverhampton Wanderers captain Conor Coady has congratulated Nigerian goalkeeper Carl Ikeme on his return to training after almost five years.

Ikeme was a long-serving player for Wolverhampton. He started his professional career at the Molineux. The 35-year-old made 207 appearances for Wolverhampton, but a battle with Leukaemia ended his promising career.

After winning the battle against cancer, Ikeme decided to call time on his career in 2018. However, the former Nigeria international made his a comeback to training last week, joining the Wolverhampton team training session.

In a video on Wolverhampton Wanderers’ social media handle, Coady shows his excitement with Ikeme’s return, and he congratulated the 35-year-old on his feat.

On the international scene, Ikeme had ten caps for the Super Eagles after he took over from Vincent Enyeama. He made his debut for the three-time African champions under former coach Sunday Oliseh in September 2015.
