Top Kuwait Premier League Predictions

Many might not consider Kuwait to have a strong football scene, but the Kuwait Premier League is bound to change their mind. The league has been with us for more than 60 years, and in that time, it has brought forth numerous fantastic players and teams.

It’s also quite popular, as you can see from various online betting reviews that state it’s part of most sites’ standard offerings. So, if you want to start betting on this compelling football league, you’ve come to the right place.

This piece will give you details on how the league works, its top teams and key players, and other compelling stats that can help you place better bets. We’ll also give you some other essential betting tips and predictions that will help you place better wagers in the days to come. Let’s begin!

What Is the Kuwaiti Premier League?

Also known as STC Premier League for sponsorship reasons, the Kuwait Premier League is the top tier league in the Kuwait football system. It was formed back in 1961 and had since been happening every year, with the only exception being the 1990-91 season that was canceled due to the Gulf War

It’s part of the Asian Football Confederation that covers football, futsal, and beach soccer in as many as 47 countries and territories in Asia and Oceania.

How Does the Kuwait Premier League Work?

Every season, ten teams compete for the league champion title. The number of teams participating has changed many times over the league’s long history, ranging from as low as six to as many as 15 teams. But as of the 2018-19 season, the league has pretty much settled on ten teams.

Every season, the top-ranked teams move to various AFC competitions, while the worst two get relegated to the Kuwaiti Division One, the second-ranked league in the Kuwait football competition pyramid.

The competition is simple and in line with most other top-tier leagues. It lasts for a few months every time, and each time has to play against every other two times. They are then ranked based on the number of points they’ve won.

As always, the teams playing slightly differ year after year due to the relegation rule. The teams playing in the 2021-22 season are:

  • Al-Kuwait
  • Al-Qadsia
  • Al-Salmiya
  • Kazma
  • Al-Arabi
  • Al-Nasar
  • Al-Tadhamon
  • Al-Shabab
  • Al-Fahaheel
  • Al-Yarmouk

Top Teams in the Kuwait Premier League

You might think that with so many teams competing and many coming and going every year, the league would have a lot of major clubs. However, it doesn’t. The two best teams are, without a doubt, Al-Arabi and Qadsia, the only two teams that have won 17 titles each. So, together, they’ve won more than half of all Kuwait Premier League seasons so far.

The last time Al-Arabi won was in the 2020-21 season, while Qadsia’s latest cup was the 2015-16 season. All seasons in between were won by the next best team — Kuwait SC. This Kuwait City football club has won 16 Kuwait Premier Leagues so far.

The three are definitely the best teams and almost-certain bets if you decide to start placing wagers on the notable Kuwaiti league.

However, it’s worth mentioning that there are three more teams with Kuwait Premier League titles behind them — Kazma and Al-Salmiya with four titles each and Al-Jahra with a single win. Even though that’s a good record, all of them have won a long time ago, in the 1990s. In the 21st century, only the top three teams have been winning the league championship title.

Where to Find Great Betting Odds for the Kuwaiti Premier League?

The Kuwait Premier League is covered by a wide range of notable online sportsbooks. If you check any list of the top ones, most of them will cover it. More importantly, they all have highly competitive odds for the league and numerous betting markets.

What Are the Best Betting Markets for Kuwait Premier League?

The Kuwait Premier League is one of the few football leagues of this type where it’s good to place the hard-to-win league winner bets. That’s because only three teams have been winning the Kuwaiti Premier League for the last 22 years, making it much easier to correctly guess the winner of the next championship. In other words, you should stick to Al-Arabi, Qadsia, and Kuwait SC.

Furthermore, if you want to bet on goals, you should be on over 2.5 goals most of the time, as matches typically have an average of almost three goals per match. This has been the case for several seasons already.
