Osimhen officially receives Serie A Player of the Month award

Super Eagles attacker, Victor Osimhen was officially presented with his gong as the Serie A Player of the Month for March on Sunday.

The former Lille attacker received his prize after Partenopei failed to consolidate on their solid run to the title.

Osimhen, who continued his hot streak in the league in Napoli’s Sunday home loss to Fiorentina had scored four goals in March.

Against Fiorentina, he battled a fierce challenge against the opposition defenders but once broken free, he set up the top scorer in Napoli history, Dries Mertens to score his eighth of the campaign.

Osimhen also registered his own goal in the 84th minute as he beautifully controlled a pass from the middle before delivering a fine volley into the top right corner of the Fiorentina goal.

The attacker’s scintillating form in March had helped Napoli stay strong in their third Serie A title pursuit.

He was however unable to save his team from being set back by an organised Fiorentina side.

Osimhen has scored 12 goals and assisted 4 this season in 21 games and he made his 13th start of the season against Fiorentina.

The Nigerian attacker has also won 6 penalties for Napoli this season.
