Nigeria-eligible Udinese star prefers Italy to the Super Eagles

The left-back/left wing-back has had an impressive showing season after breaking into the Udinese first team

Destiny Udogie has said he will prefer to walk the path of Stephano Chuka-Okaka and Angelo Ogbonna to represent the Italian national team.

The Nigeria-eligible defender has been impressive this season for the I Bianconeri playing as a left back or left wing-back for the team.

His impressive displays are believed to be catching the eye in the Serie A and the player may have revealed his readiness for the Azzurri and not the Super Eagles.

Udogie was speaking on an Italian Football Podcast when he answered questions on his international future considering he’s also eligible to play for Nigeria.

Born in Italy to Nigerian parents, Udogie has represented the European country at the youth level.

“I was born in Italy so I feel more Italian. I have played in all the Italian youth selections and I want to reach the senior national team. Serie A must give more opportunities to young people. The clubs must allow the boys to express their quality. We are one. leagues where youngsters are given less chance. A change is needed,” he said.
