‘I feel very comfortable here’- Success sheds light on his time at Udinese

Super Eagles star Isaac Success has stated that he is comfortable at Udinese, and even though he feels the Premier League is the best, he feels more relaxed in Italy.

Success joined Watford from Granada for 15million euros in 2016. The Nigeria international had a lot of promise considering his exploits with the Golden Eaglets that won the Under-17 World Cup in 2013. He was the first member of the squad to make a European move when he joined Udinese.

However, Success struggled to hit the mark at Vicarage Road. The bulky forward was constantly on the sidelines because of recurring injuries. And when he was fit enough, he struggled to make an impression. The only consistent season that Success had was the 2018/19 season when he made thirty league appearances for the Hornets.

In his five years at Vicarage Road, he made just 72 appearances in all competitions, albeit he had a six-month loan spell at Malaga.

The 26-year-old finally called time on his time at Vicarage Road last summer, as he put pen to paper for Serie A side Udinese. And since he joined the Bianconeri, Success has put up a string of decent performances. Also, his injury issues have reduced, as he has made 18 appearances this season, with two goals and seven assists to his name.

In an interview with La Gazzetta Dello Sport, the Nigerian star shared his thoughts on his time at Udine.

“The Premier League is certainly the most coveted championship today,” Success told La Gazzetta Dello Sport as per Calcionews24.

“It is inspiring; 90 percent of the players want to play for the high level. But it didn’t go well at Watford because I was also unlucky. Too many injuries. Ankle, tendon, and muscle problems.

“I wanted to measure myself against Serie A, and I want to be grateful to Gino(Watford owner) for what he did for me. And I came to Udine.

“I feel very comfortable here, I spend a lot of time at home, and I play at rest with Udinese. I am focused on work. I always hope to play, like everyone else.” Success added

The Pozzo family owns Watford and Udinese, and the two clubs have seen many players switch either way. Success met some of his former colleagues from Watford at Udinese, and he appreciated them for the enabling environment and for helping him settle in quickly.

“I’m fine now. I settled in immediately because the organization was perfect, and I already knew Pereyra, Deulofeu, Pussetto, and Zeegelaar from Watford. They explained everything to me. And with Zeegelaar, I am a friend. We will see each other out to eat.” Success said.

The Nigerian star would hope to improve on this season to become an integral part of the Udinese setup. Success has not played a game for the Super Eagles since November 2018.
