Emery reacts to Chukwueze suckerpunch against Bayern Munich

The Nigerian international scored an important leveler against Bayern Munich to knock the Germans out on aggregate

Villarreal coach, Unai Emery has praised his side’s efforts against Bayern Munich as he expressed utmost satisfaction with Samuel Chukwueze’s excellent cameo.

It took the Nigerian just four minutes after coming on to condemn Bayern Munich to yet another quarterfinals elimination in Europe’s elite football club cup competition.

In his briefing after the game, Emery praised his players’ discipline and said he’s happy to see them make history with the Yellow Submarine.

Villarreal had sustained a vital lead at home at the Ceramica and had just one business in Munich, avoiding a defeat by more than just a goal.

“I’m happy for him (Chukwueze) and everyone. The round of 16 game against Juventus gave us a lot of confidence and here it was another huge game. The first leg had already said a lot about us. We were perfect in defense,” the former Arsenal manager said after the game.

Chukwueze’s goal was just his sixth of the season in all competitions and his first of the year.

It was the first time Villarreal will make it to the last four of the Champions League since 2006.
