‘We are going to make history in Kumasi’- Super Eagles skipper talks tough ahead of Ghana clash

The Baba Yara Stadium is like a fortress for the Black Stars, but the Super Eagles captain is confident that they can tear down their walls

Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa believes that Nigeria has what it takes to beat the Black Stars of Ghana when they square off for the first leg of the Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifier in Kumasi.

The first leg was initially set for the Cape Coast Stadium, but the Ghanaian Football Association requested that the game be moved to the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

The stadium named after late Ghanaian winger Baba Yara has been a slaughterhouse for the Ghanaians. In fact, Nigeria was thrashed 7-0 at the stadium when both sides met in 1955.

They have also beaten Egypt at that same stadium in a World Cup qualifier fixture in 2014.

However, Musa is not concerned with the records that the Ghanaians have set at the stadium, as he believes Nigeria can beat Ghana in their own backyard.

“We have been hearing a lot of things that they have not lost in Kumasi,” Musa said at the Super Eagles presser as per Elegbete TV.

“The last time game we played against Benin, they said they had never lost a game in Benin, but we went there and won. So we are going there to make a very big history by winning that game in Kumasi.”

The Super Eagles jet out to Kumasi on Thursday, and they would look to put up a good fight to secure a first-leg advantage.
