Sadiq Umar pumped up ahead of West-African derby against Ghana

The Almeria hitman is hoping to bring his club form to the international scene as Nigeria look to clinch a ticket to Qatar

Almeria star Sadiq Umar is ready to bang in the goals when the Super Eagles of Nigeria lock horns with West-African rivals Ghana in the Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

Since he returned from the disappointing Africa Cup of Nations campaign with Nigeria, Umar has been indomitable, scoring five goals in six appearances from the Rojiblancos.

And ahead of the doubleheader slated for the 25th and 29th, Umar is ready to bring his scoring boots to help Nigeria nick one of the five available tickets for the World Cup.

“I can see that everyone has been talking about it,” Umar told Omasports.

“Even me, I’ve been thinking about it because it’s our life. I hope we go there ready and ready to give everything from the first to the second game.”

The 25-year-old showed glimpses of brilliance at the last AFCON. Still, it is expected that he would have to play second fiddle to Victor Osimhen and Odion Ighalo.

However, the former Roma man is relishing the prospect of playing with the already established Super Eagles stars.

“You know, both of them [Osimhen and Ighalo] are top players,” Umar said.

“They’ve already shown it. Even Osimhen is still showing it, and that’s what the country needs- players like him and also like Odion. They give a lot to the country, and I’m just trying to go there and enjoy myself with them, and I’m looking forward to that.” he added.

Nigeria travel to Cape Coast stadium for the first leg before they return to the Moshood Abiola Stadium four days later in Abuja.
