Official: Arsenal’s Partey, Leicester’s Amartey, Belgian defender Odoi lead Ghana’s 27-man WCQ squad for Nigeria

After weeks of keeping the team list close to the chest, the GFA has finally made public the names of the players to face the Super Eagles in the two-legged qualifying playoffs for the Mundial

The Ghana Football Association has released a 27-man roster to prosecute the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying double-header against Nigeria scheduled for March 25 and 29.

As expected, Arsenal’s Thomas Partey and Leicester City’s Daniel Amartey lead a group of four goalkeepers, nine defenders, six midfielders, dour wingers, and four strikers.

As Soccernet earlier reported, one-cap Belgium international Denis Odoi earns his first Black Stars call-up days after completing his switch of allegiance with FIFA.

The 33-year-old fullback will slot into a defence that also has Bordeaux’s Gideon Mensah and Celta Vigo’s Joseph Aidoo.

Aside from Partey, head coach Otto Addo has invited Ajax’s Mohammed Kudus and KAA Gent’s Elisha Owusu.

Exciting youngster Issahaku Abdul Fatawu is the standout name on the wings, with the teenager set to flank Gent’s Joseph Paintsil against the Super Eagles.

Crystal Palace’s Jordan Ayew is the most significant name on the striker’s list, with AS Roma kid-wonder Felix Afena Gyan also earning a call-up.
