Super Eagles coach, Austin Eguavoen has explained his reason for not inviting Cyriel Dessers to the national team.
Dessers, who has had an impressive season with Feyenoord despite injury woes, has been ignored by national handlers for a while now.
The attacker’s continuous snub has been a surprise to the fans of the Super Eagles who rate him highly and believes he should in the conversation for a place in Nigeria’s attack.
Eguavoen has so far not invited Dessers to the team but defended his decision when he spoke on Elegbete TV. He said he’s yet to see the former Heracles attacker play live and will like to take a closer look at him.
“You are talking about Cyriel Dessers, where is he playing?” Eguavoen asked rhetorically.
“So am I going to take the train from here to Holland? The answer is no.
“So the time has to be right.
“When I say I haven’t watched the player, I’m talking about watching them live.”

Our coach decision making leaves a lot to be desired. First he chose onazi to satisfy everybody yet Cyril has not be monitored. At the same time he wants to bring in a certain Yusuf to the national team. Did he take a train to Belgium before rating the guy?
I taya o. He took a train to Saudi Arabia to watch Onazi play in Saudi division 2.
My only concern is that we must not lose that guy o.
Honestly, the guy is good. He deserves a place in this squad.
Is Onazi better than Dessers NO
But all the way I just hope we never loose him.!!
D truth is when it comes to players selection no Nigerian coach has ever gotten it right... if the team fails to qualify the coach should be responsible enough to tell everyone that he has no idea in coaching the National team
If Nigeria Super Eagles don't beat Ghana black star than we should blame the coaches bcoz right now Ghana has no players playing in the big teams in Europe except 3 or 4 of them but Nigerian players are painting europe with goals and fine football so anything short of QUALIFICATION will not be acceptable
Eguavoen as usual has shown that he lacks the technical depth needed to handle the Super Eagles.
