The former Brighton gaffer has barely spent two months on the job, but he feels his lads can do the job against the Super Eagles
Ghana Technical Adviser Chris Hughton has affirmed his belief in the Ghanaian players’ ability to beat Nigeria and secure the Qatar 2022 World Cup ticket.
The Super Eagles square off against their West-African champions Ghana later this month, as they battle to secure one of the five available tickets for Africa to the World Cup in Qatar.
The tie is a potential banana peel, as the Black Stars are undergoing a rebuild under a new coaching crew.
After a torrid Africa Cup of Nations campaign in January, the Ghanaian FA opted for a change on the touchline, with Otto Addo appointed as coach, and Hughton as Technical Adviser.
Ahead of the game against Nigeria, Hughton is confident that Ghana can do one over their West-African rivals.
“Remain calm and be positive about the team,” Hughton said as per Ghanasoccernet.
“We strongly believe we have the quality, desire and hunger to achieve the results that we want, it is our aim to qualify for the World Cup in Qatar, and we all have a duty to make that dream a reality.
“Ghana has done it before, and we can guarantee you that every Ghanaian wants to see the team in Qatar, and we are committed to that. We are Ghana, and we are ready.” He added.
The two sides square off at the Baba Yara Stadium for the first leg on March 25th, before Nigeria hosts the Ghanaians in Abuja four days later.
