Glasgow Rangers defender, Calvin Bassey has earned a recall to the Super Eagles after strings of impressive displays with the Scottish club.
Bassey earned the call ahead of FC Paderborn’s Jamilu Collins who is on standby.
The young defender’s stock has risen since the appointment of Dutchman Giovanni Van Bronckhorst in the Gers’ dugout.
With Nigeria chasing a World Cup ticket against Ghana, Bassey has another opportunity to impress national team handlers after he was previously invited but unused by former coach, Gernot Rohr.
His Rangers teammates and regular Super Eagles suspects, Leon Balogun and Joe Aribo were also handed invitations.
Three Nigerians apiece were also invited from Watford and Leicester with both clubs alongside Rangers having the highest number of representatives in the Super Eagles.
Nigeria is billed to face Ghana on the 25th and 29th of March in Accra and Abuja. Both teams last faced in 2011 in a friendly game and last met in a competitive fixture in 2010.
