Akpoborie reveals the Super Eagles player Nigeria must play through to defeat Ghana

Former Wolfsburg and Super Eagles attacker, Jonathan Akpoborie has hailed Victor Osimhen for his skill and attacking qualities.

In an exclusive interview with Soccernet, Akpoborie said Osimhen has qualities that Nigeria can make the most of in the games against Ghana.

He said the Napoli striker will be a proud addition to any top club in Europe and is the striker Nigerians have long clamoured for.

“I saw that game (Napoli against Udinese) and he’s the real deal,” the former Hansa Rostock striker said.

”When Nigeria says they’re looking for a striker, that is the striker we are looking for. Any top club in Europe will be proud to have Osimhen today. And what Napoli do is to play to his strength.

“They do everything for him to score goals that you see. He’s not playing to wait for the ball to come through the middle. Napoli most of the time go the wings and the pull-outs are what they give to him everytime.

“If you watch Napoli play, about 70% of their attacks come from the wing because they know if they pull out, the boy has strength there.

“That’s what I believe Nigeria should be doing. That’s what the coach should be working on because that’s where our goals will come from.”

Osimhen is expected to lead the line when the Super Eagles face Ghana on the 25th and 29th of March.

  • Omo Osemhen is loin. That's original top9 not sodiq that can not hustle ball or awonyi and Onuachu. Don't be surprised that dossers is sharper than all those sodiq and co

  • Your analysis here 100 percentile.
He's not like Lukaku that waits for the ball to reach him in his father's house. He goes for it.
He shoots, heads and all over the field picking balls. He's above Sidique, Onuachi, Awoniyi and iheanacho.
He needs to target his shots at the extremes of the post and not really direct to the post. When he does this I guess he will be a clinical finisher like Ronaldo.
Messi is ahead of all these strikers in view of his ball holding capacity, dribbles, stability, not injury prone and acute angle strikes.
