“Very frustrated” – Everything Joe Aribo said after Rangers’ dull draw at Tannadice Park

The Nigerian midfielder came to the Gers’ rescue on an unlucky afternoon for the title-chasers

Super Eagles star Joe Aribo has reacted to Rangers’ interesting but disappointing 1-1 draw against Dundee United at the Tannadice Park.

Rangers came into the tie on a high after defeating Borussia Dortmund 4-2 away in Germany on Thursday, a game in which Aribo added an assist to his excellent performance.

The game against Dundee United was even more important, with title rivals Celtic already sitting a point ahead of Gio van Bronckhorst’s men.

But Ross Graham, on his 21st birthday, headed United into a surprise first-half lead. With Rangers starring a surprise loss, Aribo rose to the occasion to draw the Gers level in the second half.

Rangers missed a ton of chances and had two valid penalty cases waived off, but the champions could not find a late winner.

Speaking to RangersTV after the encounter, Aribo offered his thoughts about the game, the words of his manager during the break, and the need to refocus ahead of the return leg against Dortmund at the Ibrox.

What are your emotions after that game?

Very frustrated. Disappointed because we’ve gone and had a lot of chances, we’ve played very well, but the result has not shown that so it’s very upsetting.

What did the manager say at halftime?

We had to take more shots, get the ball in and around the area and make it harder for their defenders. We just couldn’t get lucky enough to get that second goal we’re pushing for.

Hopefully, it’s an important point at the end of the season?

Definitely, we’re going to keep pushing for every game that we play. We want to win every game. Today’s one which is disappointing, but a point is better than nothing.

Is it vital to refocus on Thursday?

We need to dust ourselves off, recover and look towards Thursday night; we need to be ready to go.

Important to show that quality on Thursday?

We were unlucky, there were good moments in the game today, but we just needed to be a bit more ruthless in front of goal and take our chances that came along.
