The four-time Women African player of the year continued her impressive goalscoring run for the Cules in what was a historic evening for her
Super Falcons captain Asisat Oshoala made history for Barcelona Femeni after reaching a 100 appearance for the club in their 9-1 thrashing of Real Sociedad on Wednesday evening.
Oshoala joined Barcelona initially on a loan deal in January 2019 from Dalian Quanjian before she signed permanently six months later.
The Nigerian captain has been a key player for the Blaugranes since she signed for them and also one of the top stars in women’s football.
Wednesday’s game against Real Sociedad was another match that showed Oshoala’s importance in Jonatan Giráldez’s team.
The 27-year-old took her tally to 18 goals in 15 league games this season after scoring twice in Barcelona’s 9-1 thrashing of their hosts.
Oshoala put Barcelona ahead in the 10th minute before scoring her and Barcelona’s second on the stroke of half-time.
The former Arsenal star is now on course to eclipse her highest-scoring season at the club, which was the 2019- 2020 campaign.
Oshoala scored 21 goals in all competitions in the 2019-2020 season, with 20 of the goals coming in the Spanish Primera division.
And with nine games left in the Spanish top-flight this season, the ex-Liverpool Star to break her highest-scoring campaign for the club.
Overall, Oshoala has scored 79 goals in her 100 appearances so far for Barcelona. Meanwhile, her first half brace opened the floodgates in the second half as Barcelona scored seven more.
Fridolina Rolfö made it three for Barca before strikes from Irene Paredes and Lieke Martens extended the away side’s lead.
The Best Women’s player Alexia Puttelas added the sixth, while late goals from Claudia Pina, Jennifer Hermoso and Marta Torejjon completed a dominant performance for the champions.
The only stain in an otherwise flawless display is the lack of a clean sheet after Emma Ramirez scored a consolation for Sociedad.
Nonetheless, the win all but guarantees Barcelona another league title.
