Super Falconets trample on Cameroon to edge closer to World Cup berth

The youngsters were brilliant against the young Lionesses of Cameroon, and they are just a step away from the World Cup

The Super Falconets of Nigeria were outstanding against Cameroon as they thrashed the young Lionesses 3-0 to reach the final qualifying stage for the 2022 Under-20 Women’s World Cup.

The Nigerians welcomed Cameroon at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja, with the aim of progressing to the final stage of the World Cup qualifiers.

The Falconets had the momentum going into the tie as they secured a goalless draw from the first-leg against Cameroon. All they had to do was to secure a victory in Abuja.

The Nigerian side turned up in style, as the Christopher Danjuma tutored side took the lead in the 27th minute through Esther Onyezide.

Then 17 minutes later, Precious Vincent doubled the lead to put the Super Falconets two goals ahead at halftime. Nigeria kept it solid at the back and controlled the game for most embers of the second half.

The final nail was then put in the coffin of the Cameroonians, as Onyezide struck her second of the game in the 72nd minute to ensure that the Falconets ran out with a comprehensive 3-0 victory.

Nigeria have one more hurdle to cross to secure a World Cup berth. They face either Morocco or Senegal in the final stage of qualifiers.
