Odey scores, but Ndidi, Iheanacho and Lookman put up brilliant performances to ensure Leicester City victory

The Foxes returned to winning ways in Denmark as they secured a spot in the Round of 16 of Europe’s third-tier competition

Stephen Odey scored for Randers, but brilliant performances from Wilfred Ndidi, Kelechi Iheanacho, and Ademola Lookman helped Leicester City to a comfortable 3-1 victory against Randers.

The Foxes lost to Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend, but they travelled to Denmark with big hopes to finish off their Europa Conference League tie against Randers.

Leicester City beat Randers 4-1 in the first leg of the tie last week, and they were big favourites to complete the job in Denmark.

Leicester City stamped their authority early in the tie as Ndidi trod a well-weighed pass towards Harvey Barnes, who ended a great counterattack with a beautiful finish.

After the goal, Randers opened up, searching for a goal, but their poor finishing was their bane, as they failed to take advantage of their chances.

Leicester City could also have scored with chances falling to Iheanacho and Lookman, but they could not capitalise.

But Brendan Rodgers’ men still held their 1-0 lead at half-time. Randers entered the second half with intensity, but the Foxes held their own and kept it tight in defence.

Leicester City then struck again in the 70th minute through James Maddison, who curled a beautiful free-kick past Patrik Carlgren.

James Maddison then struck again off an assist from Iheanacho to make it 3-0. Odey had chances to pull one back for Randers, but he was wasteful on the night.

However, the Foxes failed to keep their clean sheet, as Odey capitalised on their poor defending to score a consolation goal for the home side.

Lookman did not score, but he was decent on the night. He had 40 touches with a 79 per cent pass accuracy. He also won three of his eight duels.

Leicester City progressed to the round of 16 with a 7-2 aggregate victory.
