Leicester City’s Nigerian star gets nominated for English WSL player of the month for February

The Nigerian star has been in a good run of form recently for both club and country, and that has gotten her a nomination

Leicester City Women’s defender Ashleigh Plumptre is one of the nominees for the English Women’s Super League player of the month for February.

This year has been good for the Super Falcons star. Her switch from England to represent the Super Falcons was approved last month, and this month, she has registered impressive displays for both club and country.

Plumptre made her competitive debut for Nigeria in their 2-0 victory over Ivory Coast last week. She brought her outstanding club form to the international scene, maintaining a solid front to help the Super Falcons preserve their clean sheet.

At club level, she has put up outstanding performances. She has made two appearances for Leicester City Women this month, helping her side to two victories, with a goal to her name.

The Women’s Super League have released their shortlist for player of the month for February, and the 23-year-old defender was recognised for her displays.

She has competition from Ann-Katrin Berger, Alisha Lehmann, Jess Carter, Ashleigh Neville, and Jemma Purfield.

Plumptre is currently on duty for Nigeria, and she is part of the team that will battle the Ivory Coast in the second leg of their AWCON 2022 qualifiers.
