The former Hapoel Be’er Sheva star wowed watchers of the Turkish elite division with an excellent performance on Sunday
Ghanaian attacker Bernard Mensah has called Nigerian forward Anthony Nwakaeme the best footballer in the Turkish Super Lig, with DR Congo midfielder Fabrice Nsakala Mayélé agreeing with him.
Nwakaeme drew the latest praises from his colleagues of different clubs after another brilliant display at the weekend.
Trabzonspor were expected to have it tough against Alanyaspor, a team that had remained undefeated in each of their last nine matches in all competitions.
But Nwakaeme had other ideas as he broke the home side’s resistance with a fifth-minute goal before smashing in the game’s second in the 25th minute to set the Black Seas Storm on the road to a commanding 4-0 win.
Aside from his brace, the one-cap Nigerian international made four key passes, created one big chance, and accumulated a 96% pass accuracy.
Nwakaeme’s quality display inspired Kayserispor ace Bernard Mensah to rate him the best in the country.
Writing on his Twitter page, the 27-year-old attacking midfielder said: “The best player in the League Anthony Nwakaeme.”
In response, Besiktas ace Nsakala nodded his agreement: “Hé kill it bravo I think the same.”
Statistically, Nwakaeme has the highest rating (Whoscored) of any player in the Turkish Super Lig, with the Nigerian boasting a score of 7.64.
Nwakaeme has claimed two goals, two assists, and two man-of-the-match awards in his five league appearances in 2022.
Overall, the 32-year-old winger has eight goals and eight assists in 20 league showings for the Abdullah Avci-tutored side.
