The youngster, a couple of days ago, became the latest English youth international to commit his international future to the three-time African champions
Everton forward Ademola Lookman has expressed his delight at having the chance to represent Nigeria, the country of birth of his parents.
Born in England to Nigerian parents, Lookman represented the European giants at the youth level and won the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2017.
But he remained eligible to play for the Super Eagles, having not appeared for the Three Lions. On Wednesday, FIFA’s decision to approve his request to switch nationality was made public.
The exciting winger has taken to his Twitter account to express his gratitude to the many fans who have welcomed him with kind words.
“Delighted to announce that FIFA has approved my Nationality switch. Thank you for the warm welcome and I can’t wait to put on the Super Eagles shirt and represent the country,” he wrote on his official account.
Currently on loan at Leicester City from RB Leipzig, Lookman’s addition to the Super Eagles is a significant boost to the Super Eagles with head coach Augustine Eguavoen a known admirer of exciting wingers.
From out on the flanks, Lookman has scored five goals and registered three assists in 22 games for Leicester City this season.
The 24-year-old will hope to earn his maiden call-up and make his international debut when Nigeria trade tackles with Ghana over two legs in a World Cup qualifier next month.

What a good way showing the positioning of the players. But this handsome guy, SEMIU AJAYI must not be left out from the squad. I don't know him from any where, but I think I fell in love with his style of play in the last group match.
Also, either Adeleye or Oremade, I think Daniel Akpeyi is still better than any of them. Like the saying "Devil you know is better than Angel you don't know"
@Tbami yeah You're spot on...Ajayi replaces the recuperating Awaziem
Waooooo, AWAZIEM is a good defender. But I thought SEMILOGO AJAYI replaced BALOGUN?
Anyhow, all we need now is proper grooming of this players. They also need a psychologist to help them psychologically, it's been long I see Siasia goal against Argentina, Finidi George goal against Greece, Rashidi Yekini goal against Zaire AFCON 94 and so on. You don't need to be mentally position that you only score goals whenever you are in box 18.
The eagles these days respects their opponents too much and this is killing the game.
Very true... I think the last time Eagles scored a goal from outside the box was during Emmanuel Emenike's time
