The three-time champions have been impressive at the 33rd edition of the continental showpiece and have received a pat on the back from one of the game’s greatest ever stars
President of the Cameroonian Football Federation Samuel Eto’o has applauded the Super Eagles for beating Egypt and Sudan and making it to the next round of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
Nigeria joined hosts Cameroon and North African giants Morocco as the only teams to have won their first two matches, thereby qualifying for the knockout stage with a game to spare.
Only Cameroon (6) have scored more than Nigeria’s four, with the Super Eagles edging Egypt 1-0 before blasting three goals past Sudan on Saturday.
Four-time African Player of the Year winner Eto’o, who won titles with Mallorca, Barcelona and Inter Milan, is impressed with the Super Eagles’ qualification ticket.
And the African Cup of Nations’ all-time top goalscorer with 18 goals has taken to the microblogging site, Twitter, to commend the 2013 Afcon champions.
“Well done Super Eagles for securing your second victory and moving on to the knockout stage,” Eto’o wrote on his official page.

Eto’o, regarded as one of the greatest African players of all time, claimed the first of his two Afcon winners’ medals on Nigerian soil when the Indomitable Lions defeated the Super Eagles in Lagos in the final of Ghana/Nigeria 2000.
Nigeria could exact their pound of flesh on Cameroonian soil, with many fans, including AFCON’s great Segun Odegbami, already tipping the Super Eagles and the Indomitable Lions to go all the way again this time.
