AFCON 2021: Everton, Watford celebrate their Nigerian stars after victory over Guinea-Bissau

The three-time African champions continue to show their quality at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, with some of their players receiving plaudits from their clubs in Europe

Everton, Watford and other European clubs have taken to Twitter to celebrate their Nigerian stars who are currently involved in the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Super Eagles beat Guinea-Bissau 2-0 on Wednesday to seal their spot at the summit of Group D.

The Super Eagles are also the only side to qualify from the group stage with a 100 per cent record. They beat all three of their opponents, posting dominant displays in all.

The English teams were not the only ones that celebrated their players. French side Nantes also took to Twitter to celebrate Nigeria’s most valuable player so far, Moses Simon.

Huesca, Omonoia, Paderborn, CSKA Moscow, and Slavia Prague were not left out, as they also recognised their players.

The Super Eagles are yet to confirm their opponents in the Round of 16. But as it stands, they would face Malawi. Tunisia are also in the mix, although it would depend on the outcome of their game against the Gambia.
