AFCON 2021: Chukwueze keeps his place as Nigeria XI against Sudan is revealed

The Villarreal winger’s place in the team ahead of the encounter was in doubt, but he keeps his place for the game against the Falcons of Jediane

Samuel Chukwueze has kept his place in Nigeria’s starting lineup for their 2021 Africa Cup of Nations clash against Sudan.

Chukwueze’s performance in the win against Egypt drew mixed reactions, but coach Austin Eguavoen has decided to stick with the same team that beat the Pharaohs last Tuesday.

Maduka Okoye stays in goal, with Kenneth Omeruo and William Troost-Ekong retaining their centre-back partnership.

Ola Aina and Zaidu Sanusi are the full-backs, while Wilfred Ndidi and Joe Aribo form a two midfield pivot. Kelechi Iheanacho, the scorer against Egypt, plays behind Taiwo Awoniyi, who leads the line, while Moses Simon and Chukwueze are the two wingers.

The Super Eagles will qualify for the Round of 16 with a win against Sudan.

Nigeria XI: Okoye; Aina, Zaidu, Ekong, Omeruo; Ndidi, Aribo; Chukwueze, Simon; Ihenacho, Awoniyi.

Sudan XI: Achrine, Elfadni, Nemer, Karshoum, Mohamedein, Khedr, Al Rashed, Gumaa Abas Omer, Hamed, Abelrazig Omer, Eisa
