The Nigerian international’s brilliant start to life in England has been rewarded
Super Eagles forward Emmanuel Dennis has scooped the Watford Player of the Month and Goal of the Month awards for November.
The 24-year-old attacker has been the Hornet’s best player by some distance so far this term, and his excellent performances have been rewarded.
After a disappointing loan spell with Cologne in the Bundesliga last term and the sour manner his stay at Club Brugge ended, not many expected Dennis to be an instant hit in the Premier League.
But his quality was never in doubt, and Watford swooped in the summer to complete the €4 million signing of a forward who scored a brace at the Santiago Bernabeu against Real Madrid in October 2019.
The Hornets have since reaped the benefits of their trust in the exciting Nigerian attacker, as Dennis has contributed six goals and five assists in 14 league appearances.
Four of those contributions came in two games last month against Manchester United and Leicester City. Dennis bagged a goal and a brace of assists as Watford smashed United 4-1 in manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s last game in charge of the Red Devils.
He also scored once in the Hornets’ 4-2 loss at Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester on November 28. That effort – a deft finish over an advancing goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel – has now been voted as the club’s best goal of the month.
It would be recalled that Dennis also won the Watford Player of the Month award in August.
