AFCON 2021: Dennis reacts to his Super Eagles call-up

The 24-year-old attacker is part of Nigeria’s 28-man party for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, which begins on January 9

Watford striker Emmanuel Dennis has expressed his delight after he was named in Nigeria’s 28-man squad for the AFCON in Cameroon.

The Watford striker took to his Twitter account to share his joy at being part of the Super Eagles travelling party to Cameroon.

Dennis has three caps for Nigeria, but the last of his three appearances came over a year ago in a 0-0 draw against Sierra Leone.

Since then, he has been overlooked for national team engagements. However, the former Club Brugge star is back in the Super Eagles team after Gernot Rohr was sacked.

During the period Dennis was snubbed, Rohr was the Super Eagles boss, although the Watford striker was also out of form.

But his move to Watford from Club Brugge in the summer offered him a fresh opportunity, which he has duly taken.

The Nigerian attacker has scored seven goals and recorded five assists in 15 Premier League games for the Hornets this season, which has earned him a recall to the national team.

Dennis will hope to carry his club form into the national team as the Super Eagles chase a fourth continental title in Cameroon.

  • Dennis is good player every energetic. We also need lukeman of leicester city to be part of the 28 men invited by the coach

  • Please someone should inform SuperEagles handlers never to overlook Lookman of Leicester City team he is young ad fantastic

  • Every player cannot make it to AFCON. No doubt Lookman is an average player and a fantastic goal scorer.

Unfortunately, he has not been with the team for a long time now. His form suddenly dropped but he has found his MOJO since joining Leicester.

He may be called if injury prevents any of the invited attackers from making the final list.
