Serie A: Osimhen helps Napoli return to top of the table

The Super Eagles star delivered another impressive shift as the Neapolitans return to the top of the table following a comfortable win over Bologna

Victor Osimhen was again unplayable on Thursday night as Napoli beat Bologna 3-0 to move joint top with AC Milan in the Italian Serie A this season.

Osimhen did not score, but he had a hand in two of the goals Luciano Spalletti’s men scored on Thursday night at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.

Fabian Ruiz put Napoli ahead in the 18th minute with a stunning left-footed curler from outside the box. Insigne made it two from the penalty spot in the 39th minute after Gary Medel handled in the box while contesting for a cross with Osimhen.

The Nigerian was a handful for defenders throughout the game and could’ve had a goal to himself, but fired four shots off target while he was denied by the keeper on one occasion.

But despite his failure to score, Osimhen still had an impact on the game, winning the penalty for Napoli’s third, which Insigne once again converted.

The win sends Spalletti’s men back to the top, albeit with AC Milan. Both teams are the only unbeaten teams in Serie A this season, with nine wins and a draw.

  • Osimhen Victor is certainly on fire at the moment in Italy, but he needs to be more consistent in his goal scoring. The main duty of a striker apart from assists is to score great goals. He has the ability and eyes for goals. All he needs to do is to be more precise in front of goals. Obulu (Thank you) Victor for representing Naija and Africa well in Serie A.

  • I think I agree with you Prof. Victor Osimhen is the bomb at the moment just that he needs to do more on his goal scoring exercise but he got the pace and physicality; A big threat to defenders if you give him any little space can cause all kinds of problem for defenders.
Go Victor! Go our darling eagles!! World cup here we come. The bigger they are the bigger they fall.
