The German tactician has named his starting lineup for Nigeria’s clash against the Central African Republic, and there were a few surprises
Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has left out Maduka Okoye from Nigeria’s xi for the 2022 World Cup qualifier against the Central African Republic.
The 68-year-old tactician named Francis Uzoho in goal ahead of the Sparta Rotterdam shot-stopper, who only arrived camp on Wednesday.
Rohr had hinted that he would likely drop Okoye, and he has now stayed true to the words. Aside from Uzoho, the backline is the same that played against Liberia.
In the midfield, Frank Onyeka replaces the injured Wilfred Ndidi to partner Joe Aribo and Kelechi Iheanacho, who plays in an attacking midfield role.
In form, Victor Osimhen leads the attack, and he is supported by Moses Simon and Chidera Ejuke, who gets the nod ahead of Samuel Kalu.
Super Eagles XI: Uzoho – Aina, Ekong (c), Balogun, Collins – Onyeka, Aribo, Iheanacho – Simon, Ejuke, Osimhen
