Nigerians abroad: Amoo bangs another Hammarby winner; Henry, Rabiu excellent for Slovan

Soccernet.ng brings you the highlights of the excellent performances of a few Nigerians in Europe and beyond

Akinkunmi Amoo continued his brilliant run of form after providing an assist and scoring a late winner as Hammarby came from behind to edge Östersunds FK 4-3 in a thrilling Allsvenskan gameweek eight clash.

The visitors led 3-1 after just 19 minutes inside the Tele2 Arena in Stockholm, but Amoo kicked off Hammarby’s comeback in the 24th minute as he laid the pass which Swedberg converted.

Ludwigson equalised for the hosts midway through the second half before Amoo smashed home the winning penalty in stoppage time.

The goal, his eighth in 23 league games, was his fourth in his last five matches. It is also the second time the 19-year-old would net the winner for Hammarby in a week after he helped Milos Milojevic’s side triumph 1-0 over AIK on October 17.

Three Nigerians were involved, and two got on the scoresheet as Slovan Bratislava handed Liptovsky Mikulas a 4-0 in a Slovakian Super Lig gameweek 12 encounter.

Nigerian forward Ezekiel Henty grabbed a brace and an assist in the second half while former Golden Eaglets star Rabiu Ibrahim netted another as the Vladimir Weiss-tutored side returned to the summit of the league table with the win.

Kano-born midfielder Uche Agbo came on for the home side to feature for the last three minutes of the match.

Nigeria international Peter Olayinka was on target as Slavia Prague came from two goals down to salvage a 2-2 draw at České Budějovice on Sunday afternoon.

The home side ran to a two-goal lead within the opening 14 minutes and held on to the advantage until Olayinka converted a 52nd-minute penalty to reduce the deficit. Liberia’s Murphy Oscar Dorley then struck the equaliser for the reigning Czech champions seven minutes later.

Goalkeeper Akpeyi started his fourth consecutive league match for Kaizer Chiefs, and he was excellent as the Amakhosi secured a fine 2-1 win Super Sports United.

The Super Eagles shot-stopper conceded from an own goal, but he still boasts two clean sheets in his last four PSL matches.
