Mihajlovic believes Osimhen should have been sent off against Bologna

The Super Eagles striker was again a handful for the opposition defence, but the former Lazio star believes he could have been sent off

Bologna coach Sinisa Mihajlovic has hinted that Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen was lucky to stay on the pitch in Napoli’s 3-0 win over his side on Thursday night at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.

Osimhen did not score, but he had a major impact on the game, winning the third penalty, while he also forced Gary Medel to handle a cross in the box.

However, Mihajlovic believes the Nigerian could have been sent off for dangerous play before Fabian Ruiz put Napoli ahead.

The Nigerian inadvertently hit a Bologna defender in the box with his elbow. The match official Marco Serra did not see it as a major offence, but Mihajlovic believes players have been sent off for a similar situation in the past.

“I remember [Roberto] Soriano’s sending off for an elbow with a penalty against, today at 1-0, I saw an elbow from [Victor] Osimhen, and no one said anything, the former Inter Milan man said after the match as per Football Italia.

“Let’s continue. The lads tried to do what we had prepared, the first goal we conceded when we played out from the back.

Osimhen had already been sent off once in the league this season. The Nigerian international received his marching orders 23 minutes into Napoli’s opener against Venezia for shoving Daan Heymans.

  • Whoever knows Osimhem should warn him. Pull his ears well well before he let Oyibo people destroy him and his career. Some people are not happy that he an African, Nigerian for that matter is making all these headlines. He should avoid their women as that is the easiest way to send him to jail and destroy his career and probably lose all his wealth so far. A stitch in time....

  • They plan that before hand, I watched the game alone so I have all the concentration. The way the guy fall with his hands on his face tell you is a simulation a pre arranged antics to get him booked or sent off..

Osinhem I hope you will need the advise to avoid girls and don't do anything silly you have a lot of people over there planning your downfall, staff focus.. great player

  • Nice advise. Eboue is regretting today because of what they did to him. He lost everything he laboured for. May God help our brother Osimhen.

  • The reason I developed so much interest in football of late is because of the talented and inspirational young Osimhen skill and the brilliance he brought to the game.
But there is an adage in my place that says when people start drumming and singing your praise as the case of Osimhen now is, you should be very careful and tread cautiously, out of ten that clap and sing your praise, only a few have interest in your progress, other are praying for your downfall, and the moment you fall God forbid, they are the first to condemn you and consigned you to the city of fugitives.
Osimhen! Osimhen!! Osimhen!!! How many times do I call you, I don't know you from anywhere, I have never met you before, nobody love you and appreciate you than myself, I am a man of God with so much interest in your progress as orphan, please listen to the advice and counsel from people of sincere heart, if you can give your life to Christ and stay away from women and stay focus, I can assure you that you will be unstoppable, you will surely fulfill your destiny, you will reach the pick of your career as the first African to be announced as the world best footballer of this age, humility is very key to your success under coach Spaletti.

  • Emma Please my brother, listen to the wise counsel of the elders and move away from Oyibo girls. They are used as honey pot traps. As for your career, just focus, humble and obedient to your coach and other constituted authority. If that thing have started disturbing you, a fine God fearing and obedient damsel can be found from your village to Italy to marry. They are after your career. Eboue is an example.

  • It is becoming clear now that Osimhen is destined for the very top in the football world. As is always the case there are those who thinks that an African nay a Nigerian have no right to be there, after the way George Weah surprised them some many years ago. Who will get our advice and warning to Victor,s ear?Who will stand by him to advice him mentor him and guide him through that minefield. The Oyibo people will use their girls, liquore , nightparty etc to try to entrap him. Please dont forget tax-related issues....pay your tax up to date Victor....PLEASE. I dont want to hear any of such stories as they tried to do to Ronaldo, nor what Given did Iron Mike Tyson at the peak of their carrear. As a young man we know you can be very conscionable and expressive but dont forget those you add to their years with your brilliant display weekly. Dont disappoint us,dont fall into their trap in and out of the pitch.Dont let your opposing team players get into your skin to make you get provoked.............. with love from Waffi (Warri)
