The two Super Eagles stars featured for their French clubs, but the 21-year-old’s effort could not help avoid the defeat while the other was crucial to his side’s comeback win
Terem Moffi fired blanks as Lorient were humbled 4-0 at Strasbourg, their second heavy defeat in three games following their 4-1 loss to Marseille two weeks ago.
The home side ran to a three-nil lead in the opening half and added a second after the break as Moffi was again tamed in front of goal.
It’s now six matches without netting a goal for Moffi, who last found the back of the net in Lorient’s 2-1 home win over Lille on September 10.
At the Matmut Atlantique, Samuel Kalu came from the bench to inspire Girondins Bordeaux from a two-goal deficit to draw 2-2 against Reims.
Kalu watched from the bench as the visitors silenced the home fans with two well-taken goals in the opening half.
The Nigerian playmaker emerged from the bench as Les Girondins came out smoking for the second half.
Yacine Adli reduced the deficit for the hosts before Kalu assisted Jimmy Briand’s equaliser within five second-half minutes.
A penalty, awarded after a VAR review and converted by Briand deep into stoppage time, then completed the comeback for Bordeaux, sealing all three points.
