The former Santa Clara man made his third appearance in this season’s competition as The Dragons picked up their first win in Group B
Super Eagles defender Zadiu Sanusi came on at half-time to help Porto beat AC Milan 1-0 in the Champions League encounter between the two sides on Estádio do Dragão.
Sanusi has had a tough start to the season with just five appearances in all competitions. However, two of those five appearances have been in the Champions League, and he made it three when he came on for Wendell at half-time.
The 23-year-old gave a good account of himself, winning three duels. He also made one tackle while he completed 12 of his 14 attempted passes.
Porto went into the game knowing they needed to win to stand a chance of progressing to the next stage. But despite creating numerous chances against a depleted AC Milan side, they could not find the breakthrough in the opening half.
The second half was also a similar story until Luis Díaz fired in the winner in the 65th minute with a brilliant shot from just outside the box.
Díaz’s strike ensured Porto moved level with second-placed Atletico Madrid, who lost to Liverpool in a 3-2 thriller at the Wanda Metropolitano.
