Wilfred Ndidi denied a goal by Harvey Barnes as Leicester City lose at Brighton

The 24-year-old would feel disappointed for not earning a point for The Foxes in their Premier League clash against the Seagulls

Wilfred Ndidi had a goal disappointingly ruled out as Leicester City were beaten 2-1 by Brighton in their Premier League clash at the Amex Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Ndidi was hoping to bounce back after he was sent off in Leicester’s Europa League clash against Napoli, but he was denied by Harvey Barnes.

The Nigerian started in his defensive midfield role as Leicester dominated possession. However, despite enjoying 51% of the possession in the first half, it was Brighton that took the lead courtesy of Neal Maupay’s penalty in the 35th minute.

It was a tough opening half for Ndidi, who struggled to cope with Brighton’s pace and was given a yellow card in the 44th minute for pulling back Danny Welbeck.

Brighton went into the break with the slim lead, but it took only five minutes after the break for them to double their advantage, courtesy of a header from Welbeck.

The goal sparked a reaction from Brendan Rodgers men, who dominated the match from that moment. The Foxes eventually pulled one back in the 61st minute, through Jamie Vardy, who fired home from close range following a Youri Tielemans cross.

Leicester continued to pour forward following Vardy’s goal, and they thought they had the equaliser when substitute Ademola Lookman put the ball in from a corner kick.

However, the goal was chalked off as Barnes was adjudged to be in an offside position. Despite the disappointment, the Foxes continued to search for the equaliser, and once again, they had the ball in the back of the net, courtesy of a header from Ndidi.

However, in similar but unfortunate circumstances, the goal was yet again ruled out as Barnes was blocking Robert Sanchez from an offside position.

It was a disappointing outcome for Leicester and Ndidi, who would be disappointed to see his perfect header chalked off.

The result leaves the Foxes in 12th place with two wins from five games while Brighton moved up to third on the table with 12 points from the same number of games.
