The Nigerian international has become a regular in the Muscovites first eleven this season, and he showed he deserved his place with his impressive contribution on Monday evening
Nigerian dribbling wiz-kid Chidera Ejuke was one of CSKA Moscow’s top-performing stars as the Militarians secured an excellent 2-0 away victory at Nizhny Novgorod in Russian Premier League week nine clash.
Ejuke’s brilliance, with half an hour played, led to the opening goal as the Super Eagles forward supplied the assist for Baktiyor Zaynutdinov to apply the decisive finish.
It’s the 23-year-old’s second assist this season, and he has also scored twice in eight matches for the Russian giants.
Aleksey Berezutskiy’s men doubled their advantage just past the hour mark, with midfielder Ilzat Akhmetov converting from the penalty spot.
Ejuke, who made way for Kirill Nababkin seven minutes before time after suffering an injury, completed 88% of his passes, two of which were key passes, with one leading to the opener.
The former Heerenveen man showed off his dribbling skills at will, completing four of his seven attempted dribbles while winning five of his five ground duels against his opponents.
However, Ejuke missed two big chances to add to the scoreline, but one of his shots was saved by goalkeeper Artur Nigmatullin while the other missed the target.
It is the first Russian Premier League meeting between CSKA and newly-promoted Nizhny Novgorod. But both sides met at the VEB Arena in a friendly in July which the former champions won 2-1 on the day.
